About the role

The Lactation Specialist plays a vital role in this journey, providing direct, effective, and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their significant others. This role also facilitates professional nursing practice through clinical expertise and teaching, acting as a preceptor for new staff and students. The Lactation Specialist will educate staff and patients, and support quality assurance and improvement initiatives.

This is a part-time day shift position at New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Campus. Hours: 12.5 hour shifts, 3 shifts in 2 weeks with flexible start and end times.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, effective, and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their significant others
  • Facilitate professional nursing practice through clinical expertise and teaching
  • Act as a preceptor for new staff and students
  • Educate staff and patients on lactation and related topics
  • Support quality assurance and improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current New York State License as a Registered Nurse (or willingness to obtain)
  • IBCLC Certification
  • Minimum of one year acute care RN experience in women’s health or NICU
  • Previous lactation experience
  • BCLS certification

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience as a Lactation Consultant or Specialist
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership, and teaching potential

Pay

Salary Range: $140,200-$168,000/Annual

Schedule

  • Part-time, day shift
  • 12.5 hour shifts, 3 shifts in 2 weeks
  • Flexible start and end times
  • Weekend and holiday work preferred

All roles require on-site presence, so employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
