Lone Star College-Tomball offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education. Founded in 1988, LSC-Tomball is the third oldest college in the LSC system and provides a wide range of academic and workforce programs, with a leading focus on health sciences. LSC-Tomball is the founding college of the lifePATH® program, a four-year degree for adults with cognitive disabilities. The college enjoys a joint library partnership with Harris County Public Library and offers an early college high school with the Tomball Independent School District. About the Role

The Specialist III, CE Advising is responsible for ensuring LSC students are served efficiently, including advising and registration. This role authorizes and accepts DOT physicals and drug testing for enrollment, monitors and manages class enrollments and cancellations, and assists students with various financial aid sources.

Responsibilities

  • Advises students on proper course selection and requirements, explaining degree/program types and options offered by LSC, and disseminates information about campus services.
  • Guides and assists students with online enrollment and payment processes, answering their questions.
  • Provides case management to assist students with program completion.
  • Remains knowledgeable about student resources, including potential employers and funding opportunities.
  • Serves as the first response access point for students, faculty, staff, and community members regarding admissions, student account updates, and registration processes.
  • Performs accurate data entry, including adding/dropping students and registering classes; runs weekly reports on classes and students' financials to ensure accuracy.
  • Reaches out to prospective students before each enrollment period to assist with the enrollment process and may assist in the payment process.
  • Responds to inquiries submitted through the LSC website.
  • Coordinates with Financial Aid, the Business Office, and other LSC departments regarding student financial assistance and payments; may track students' financial aid status.
  • Promotes communication, program awareness, and opportunities related to programs at the location.
  • Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to use software products and work on multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Skills

  • Professional communication and interpersonal behaviors.
  • Ability to work in a sedentary environment with occasional walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
  • Proficiency with PC workstations, Microsoft Windows environment, and general office equipment.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
  • May require working schedules outside of core business hours.

Pay

Hiring salary range is $33,540 - $38,571. The final salary offer is determined by related experience and education.
