About the role

The City of Millville Police Department is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to join our team as Special Law Enforcement Officers – Class II for a part-time, community-focused assignment. Duties will be performed under appropriate law enforcement supervision and within the authority established for SLEO Class II officers under New Jersey law.

Responsibilities

• Community Engagement: Building positive relationships with residents, businesses, and visitors through approachable, professional policing.
• Proactive Public Safety: Maintaining a visible presence, identifying concerns, and helping prevent problems before they escalate.
• Community Partnerships: Supporting outreach initiatives, local activities, and community events.
• Law Enforcement Support: Assisting with patrol, public safety, traffic-related responsibilities, and enforcement activities as assigned.
• Positive Police-Community Relations: Promoting trust, communication, and collaboration between the Police Department and the people we serve.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) certification applicable to SLEO Class II duties. Previously certified officers requiring recertification are encouraged to inquire — the City may be able to assist with the recertification process on a case-by-case basis, subject to applicable PTC requirements and City approval.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• New Jersey residency during the appointment.
• Ability to meet applicable background, psychological, medical, training, and statutory requirements.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively, and interact professionally with the public.
• Valid driver's license in New Jersey if driving is required for the assignment.

All appointments and assignments are subject to applicable New Jersey law, PTC requirements, and departmental standards.

Pay

Competitive hourly pay: $25.00–$40.00 per hour.

Schedule

Flexible part-time opportunity: up to 20 hours per week.
