About the Role

Performs diagnostic radiology procedures including Diagnostic Radiology, Diagnostic surgical procedures (primary diagnostic responsibility), Computerized Tomography, Nuclear Medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, and/or Mammography. Responsible for the technical aspects of radiography, ensuring completed radiographic procedures with complete clinical history. Operates radiological equipment in a filmless environment, administering medical x-rays on injured and/or sick patients as directed by physicians while following accepted procedures and policies.

Checks the technical aspects of radiographs to determine accuracy of position and technique, assists radiologists as needed, prepares studies for interpretation, and provides quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiology procedures (e.g., CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine).
• Operate radiological equipment in a filmless environment.
• Administer medical x-rays to patients as directed by physicians.
• Verify technical aspects of radiographs for accuracy in positioning and technique.
• Assist radiologists and prepare studies for interpretation.
• Provide quality patient care during procedures.

Requirements

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Certified as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by the state of Texas.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Qualifications

• One year of hospital experience preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

• Occasionally required to lift and position patients for procedures.
• Possible exposure to infectious diseases and radiation.
