Special Events Specialist

Job Summary

About the Role

As a Special Events Specialist, you will be responsible for establishing, managing, and promoting a variety of events and outreach initiatives. You will need to demonstrate strong organizational abilities, interpersonal skills, and the capacity to multitask effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of logistics, community engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of city-wide events and public recreation outreach initiatives
• Manage logistics and ensure smooth operations during events
• Engage with the community to promote events and increase participation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful event outcomes
• Coordinate all aspects of events, including marketing, venue selection, and participant management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, event planning, or a related field
• Five years of experience in event planning and oversight
• Current CPR and First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain within three months of hire
• A valid driver's license and ability to operate various vehicles, including 15-passenger vans
• CDL is not required for this position

Qualifications

While a bachelor's degree in Recreation, event planning, or a related field is preferred, we consider equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience. Applicants must also have a current CPR and First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire. A valid driver's license and the ability to operate various vehicles, including 15-passenger vans, are required. A CDL is not necessary for this position.
