JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordinating special events and marketing for the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Captures and documents concerns and opportunities at community events, serves as point of contact with the city, represents the city and photographs events for marketing purposes.
  • Designs and publishes marketing materials, including news releases, brochures, flyers, posters, catalog pages and signage.
  • Solicits sponsorships for special events.
  • Updates and maintains the department website and social media pages.
  • Assists in recruiting volunteers; maintains volunteer database; schedules volunteers as needed; coordinates volunteer recognition programs.
  • Performs related duties.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • Variety of administrative and program coordination duties.
  • Coordination with a variety of stakeholders.
  • To coordinate the department's special events and marketing functions.
  • Contact with coworkers, other city personnel, volunteers, business leaders, representatives of civic organizations, elected and appointed officials, and the general public.
  • Typically performs while sitting, standing or stooping.
  • Work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
