JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating special events and marketing for the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Captures event plans with community organizations and city departments; organizes and leads Special Event Team meetings; ensures completion of permitting, pre-planning, insurance, logistics and post-event meetings; reviews and maintains agreements, contracts and supporting documents for special event organizers; coordinates the delivery of required city resources for events.
- Develops, organizes, implements and evaluates city-sponsored events; works all sponsored events.
- Attends community events to ensure smooth operation and compliance with requirements, documents concerns and opportunities, serve as point of contact with the city, represent the city and photograph events for marketing purposes.
- Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding special events, programs, tournaments, facility rentals, etc.
- Designs and publishes marketing materials, including news releases, brochures, flyers, posters, catalog pages and signage; works with the Public Information Officer to market through additional resources.
- Solicits sponsorships for special events.
- Updates and maintains the department website and social media pages.
- Assists in recruiting volunteers; maintains volunteer database; schedules volunteers as needed; coordinates volunteer recognition programs.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied administrative and program coordination duties. The necessity of coordinating with a variety of stakeholders contributes to the complexity of the work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping.
- The employee frequently lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
