Special Education Teacher- Social Skills, Grades K-3 - Rowe
About the role
The Oxford Hills School District is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher- Social Skills to join the team at Guy E. Rowe Elementary School. The position is part of a 180-day contract starting in the fall of 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach social skills to students in grades K-3
- Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Collaborate with other special education teachers and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and progress monitoring
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Provide small group and individualized instruction
- Work closely with classroom teachers to support general education students
- Attend professional development and training sessions
Requirements
- Master's degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Maine DOE certification
- Experience working with students with social skill deficits
- Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for social skills development
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- At least three years of successful teaching experience
- Experience with data collection and analysis
- Proficiency in using educational technology tools
- Passion for supporting students with diverse needs
