About the role
The Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support services to preschool students aged three, developing and implementing individualized educational programs to address various needs such as developmental, functional, behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and pre-academic.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with families, educational technicians, related service providers, and community partners to support student growth and readiness for PreK and kindergarten.
- Develops and implements individualized educational programs tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Uses multi-modality approaches and multiple models to support students' diverse needs.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Maintains cooperative working relationships with educational technicians and related service providers.
- Complies with mandated regulations and adheres to state and federal guidelines.
- Performs data entry and manages CINC student hours as required.
Requirements
- Maine Dept. of Education Teacher Certification (081/282)
- Background in special education, including knowledge of developmental and functional life skills instruction and specially designed instructional strategies.
- Experience implementing behavioral interventions and differentiated instructional practices based on student needs and abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with educational technicians and related service providers.
- Ability to comply with mandated regulations and adhere to state and federal guidelines.
