The Diverse Learners Teacher position at CPS is dedicated to providing a high-quality public education for every child, preparing them for success in college, career, and civic life. This role requires a valid teaching license and collaboration with various professionals to support diverse learners.

Responsibilities

  • Set individualized education plan goals that align with peers and state guidelines
  • Collaborate with case managers, counselors, and general education teachers to address students' needs
  • Create a respectful classroom culture with strong management of student behaviors and classroom procedures
  • Select learning objectives and design coherent instruction and assessments
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, exercising sound judgment
  • Design engaging classroom instruction with appropriately challenging questions, communication, and discussion techniques
  • Exhibit professionalism and prioritize student safety through consistent implementation of the Student Code of Conduct
  • Maintain a personalized learning environment using curriculum supplements and technology resources
  • Advocate for the district's vision and commitment to equity, cultural competence, high expectations, and developmental appropriateness

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • CPS online application and teaching profile completed at cps.edu/teach
  • Valid teaching license from the Illinois State Board of Education, with appropriate endorsements
  • Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach
