Special Education Teacher (Pre-K - 5)

About the role

This role involves providing additional school based duties as required for instructional planning, case management for IEP and Evaluations, professional development, parent-teacher conferences and communication, staff meetings and school events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from an accredited program
• Current Missouri and/or Kansas licensure as a Special Education Teacher
• Experience working with pediatric populations
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to learn and use web based technology for communication

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual or multilingual abilities
• Knowledge of augmentative alternative communication devices
• Previous experience in school, healthcare or clinic setting

Experience

• A degree in Special Education
• Experience working with pediatric to age 21 populations is preferred
• Familiarity with early intervention strategies and school-based therapy services is a plus
• Strong assessment skills to evaluate needs effectively
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
