Location: 100% Special Education School Site Schedule: 36.25 Hours per Week Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 5th Grade Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality educational services to students with special needs in grades K-5. This position requires a strong commitment to collaboration, student-centered instruction, and participation in a multidisciplinary team environment. This is an exciting opportunity to help establish and build a new Mild/Moderate Special Day Class at our 100% special education school site. The selected candidate will play a key role in developing classroom systems, instructional programming, and a positive learning environment that supports academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provide specialized academic instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities.Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and state regulations.Collaborate with administrators, related service providers, general education staff, and families to support student success.Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records and documentation.Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.Provide tutorial assistance, intervention support, and differentiated instruction.Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.Assist in developing and implementing programs and procedures as part of a newly established classroom. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred.Valid state teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations.Minimum of one year of experience in a teaching environment preferred.State Teacher Certification preferred:Standard Elementary TeachingStandard Secondary TeachingStandard Special TeachingLearning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of special education best practices and instructional strategies.Compliance with all applicable professional standards of practice.Current CPR certification, if applicable.TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, if applicable.Current Health Certificate as required by state regulations or contract.Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with elementary-age students with mild to moderate disabilities.Strong classroom management and behavior support skills.Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary educational teams.Ability to develop engaging and individualized instructional programs.Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to help build a new educational program from the ground up.
