Special Education Teacher (Grades K-8) - 2 vacancies
About the role
New Haven Public Schools seeks a Teacher-Special Education to join our dedicated team. The position is available in Comprehensive Grades K-12 Special Education (165) certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and specialists to develop and implement effective educational plans.
- Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs (Individualized Education Programs).
Requirements
Must possess and maintain a Special Education certification as required by Connecticut State Statutes. Additional requirements include:
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- At least three years of teaching experience in Special Education.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding special education.

- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay
Salary is contingent upon degree and years of experience: 26-27 School Year: $53,220 - $108,047.
