Primary Responsibilities
- Safely and effectively managing a 6:1:1 specialized classroom
- Write specific lesson plans that adhere to the Common Core; are chronologically and developmentally appropriate; reflect differentiated instruction techniques; incorporate technology, and are creative
- Effectively incorporating support staff into the classroom program
- Develop Individualized Education Plans ("IEPs") in accordance with current New York State Education and Gateway practice, procedures and policies
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- New York State Certification in appropriate grade levels and as a condition of future employment must be working toward, or be willing to pursue, appropriate Special Education certification in appropriate grade levels
- Demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening
- Work effectively with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles
- Physically restrain if required

Compensation
$47,256 - $60,879 (yearly) Offers based on education and years of relevant experience
