Special Education Teacher (K-8)
About the role
New Haven Public Schools seeks a Teacher-Special Education (Bilingual preferred) to join our dedicated team. The position is available for the 26-27 School Year with a salary range of $53,220 - $108,047.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and administrators to develop and implement effective educational plans.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education services.
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a Special Education certification as required by Connecticut State Statutes.
- Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with students with disabilities is beneficial.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- At least one year of teaching experience in special education.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws regarding special education.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
