Special Education Teacher (Grades 5-8)

Requirements

• Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Special Education (Grades 1–5, 4–8, or applicable grade band) in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education guidelines (Bulletin 746)
• Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Special Education or a related field
• 2+ years of teaching experience in special education is frequently preferred

Responsibilities

• Adapt general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide accommodations and modifications as required
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
• Use data-driven instruction to support individual student growth

Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of Louisiana Student Standards for grades 5–8
