Responsibilities
- Teach youth different skills based on their current abilities in order to enhance their opportunity for normalization and self determination
- Maintain classroom management including counseling and crisis intervention when needed
- Work as a team and take direction considering students’ needs
- Create and implement lessons for each class period
- Provide course outlines/syllabi for each class before each semester
- Prepare lesson plans if absent
- Determine and report individual student grades using Infinite Campus gradebook
- Ensure all Personal Learning Plans and Individualized Education Plans are in compliance
- Professional communication with parents/professionals as needed (report cards, IEP progress reports, post-secondary planning, etc.)
- Create an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) for each homeroom student
- Support post-secondary planning for students
- Attend and participate in all in-service activities
- Attend professional staffing's for students, when possible, as needed
- Attend morning staff meetings each morning
- Attend two staff development meetings a week, as scheduled
- Knowledge of the histories and IEP's for all youth in order to give individualized care
- Interact with residential houses on campus to coordinate care, including providing written daily updates
- Work within course budget
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study related to the work assignment, along with a valid Colorado Initial or Professional Secondary Teacher license with an endorsement in SPED from CDE
- A current valid Colorado driver's license, with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWAI in the last five years)
- A clean criminal record
- To be at least 22 years of age
- The ability to obtain QMAP, and CPR/First Aid certification
- To pass an extensive background and DMV check
- To comply with Federal Drug Screening laws
