About the role

The Special Education Teacher will be placed at Joseph Charter School, serving students in grades K-6, starting the 2026-27 school year. The position is a .6 FTE with the potential to become a full-time position if desired.

Responsibilities

• Teach special education students in a K-6 setting
• Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to provide a comprehensive educational program
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Requirements

• Valid Oregon Teaching License with a K-12 Special Education Generalist endorsement
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
• Experience working with students with disabilities
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Qualifications

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in using technology for lesson planning and assessment
• Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively
