Special Education Teacher

About the role

Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides quality services to special education students in kindergarten through grade 12. The role involves team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide special instruction and tutorial assistance to students
• Consult with general education staff on student programs
• Participate in planning and implementation of student programs

Requirements

• Valid California Special Education Teaching Credential
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
• Prior school-based teaching experience preferred
• Must meet all state, federal, and local requirements
• Current certifications and clearances as required
• State Teacher Certification (Standard Elementary, Standard Secondary, or Standard Special Teaching preferred)
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
• 37.5 hours per week
