Amergis Healthcare Staffing is actively hiring several Special Education Teachers for elementary school campuses in Mesquite, Texas. We have multiple openings supporting students in Life Skills and Structured Learning Classrooms, serving students with moderate to severe disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Position Details
- Location: Mesquite, TX
- Setting: Elementary School (K–5)
- Schedule: Full-Time
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Start: Immediate openings available
- Pay Rate: $46.00 per hour
- Weekly Pay: $1,840 per week
- Contract Opportunity: with potential for extension
Caseload Information
- Life Skills and Structured Learning Classrooms
- Small caseloads of approximately 8–12 students
- Moderate to severe disability population
- Students may require medium-level behavioral support
- Significant Autism Spectrum Disorder population
- Paraprofessional and behavioral support staff assigned to each classroom
- Collaborative environment with school-based support teams
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with student goals
- Support academic, behavioral, communication, and functional life skills development
- Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
- Collaborate with families, therapists, administrators, and school staff
- Utilize evidence-based strategies for students with autism and moderate to severe needs
- Create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment
Qualifications
- Active Texas State Teaching License
- Special Education Certification
- Previous experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Experience supporting elementary-aged students (K–5 preferred)
- Strong classroom management and behavior support skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Life Skills classrooms
- Experience in Structured Learning Classrooms
- Background supporting moderate to severe special education populations
