About the role

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 seeks a Special Education Teacher Assistant to support students with specialized needs.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs as directed by Special Education Teachers.
• Assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
• Apply general written and verbal guidance to specific work situations.
• Perform tasks involving lifting and moving up to thirty pounds without assistance or assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds.

Requirements

• Desire to assist students with specialized needs.
• Knowledge or the ability to obtain knowledge of best practices for working with children and young adults with specialized needs.
• General skills in applying guidance to specific work situations.
• Ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current certification as a Special Education Teacher Assistant in Illinois.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of special education techniques and strategies.
