About the role

As a Teacher Assistant at our May Center School in Randolph, Norwood, or Mansfield, you'll be an essential part of our mission to support students ages 3-21 with Autism, Developmental and Cognitive Disabilities, Brain Injury, or Neurobehavioral Disorders in achieving their goals and aspirations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with lead teachers to bring individualized educational plans (IEPs) to life, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with personal care tasks and expertly manage behavioral crises, offering unwavering support to students during classroom activities to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Harness the power of positive behavior support strategies to develop essential social skills, enhance communication abilities, and promote independence among students.
  • Cultivate a warm, supportive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to embrace their journey of learning and growth.
  • Thoroughly document student progress and maintain open lines of communication with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring everyone is informed and involved in each student's educational journey.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 1 year of driving experience.
  • Empathy, patience, compassion, and the ability to support children with diverse communication and behavioral needs.
  • Experience with children or individuals with special needs (preferred but not required).
