Special Education Teacher Assistant

The Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant.

About the role

This position assists with the implementation of student programs, performs and assists the teacher in providing ancillary services, prepares and organizes instructional materials, implements strategies to support students with severe language impairments, communicates effectively with staff, students, and parents, participates in the implementation of emergency intervention plans, and keeps all information regarding a student and their family confidential. The position also utilizes Adaptive Schools concepts and strategies to engage students and adults.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of student programs
• Perform and assist teacher in providing ancillary services such as toileting, lifting, catheterization, suctioning, tube feeding, etc.
• Assist in preparation and organization of instructional materials
• Implement strategies to support students with severe language impairments
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents
• Participate in the implementation of emergency intervention plans to intervene with students exhibiting behavior of risk to self or others
• Demonstrate the ability to keep all information regarding a student and their family confidential
• Utilize Adaptive Schools concepts and strategies to engage students and adults

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to work with students of varying developmental levels

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher

$14.93 hourly, 194 days annually, school year
