Special Education PreK Paraeducator (part-time)

About the role

Putnam Elementary School is seeking a Special Education PreK Paraeducator for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Support PreK students with diverse learning needs, providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional assistance.
• Work collaboratively with the lead teacher and specialists to implement instructional and behavioral plans.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Adapt to evolving student needs and assist with classroom activities, including play-based learning and transitions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment OR at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution. A Child Development Associate (CDA) is preferred.
• Experience working in a school system is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, showing patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Able to follow directions from certified staff, maintain a high degree of professionalism, and ensure confidentiality at all times.
