About the role
The job coach will directly assist students with significant disabilities at Tulsa Transition Academy in acquiring vocational and life skills aligned with their postsecondary goals. They will support and supervise students both within the school setting and in the community.
Responsibilities
- Support students in acquiring vocational and life skills aligned with their postsecondary goals
- Supervise students in the school setting and in the community
- Implement strategies for de-escalation and emergency intervention when necessary
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and sit/stand for long periods
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 48 earned college credit hours from an accredited college or university
- Successful passage of the Highly Qualified Test Specialized Knowledge
- CPR and First Aid training and re-certification
- OSDE Paraprofessional Registry completion prior to employment
- Completion of Employment Consultant Training annually
- Completion of six hours of staff development specifically designed for support personnel working with students who have disabilities
- Certification in district-approved relationship-building and de-escalation strategies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
- Experience as a job coach in either a vocational or school setting preferred
