Job Coach for Special Education (26-27 SY)

Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid in creating effective job coaching and employment plans for students with disabilities.
• Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions.
• Help students identify and overcome personal barriers and set goals.
• Assess students' strengths and teach them how to use them effectively.
• Guide students in completing job tasks.
• Develop motivation and skills in students.
• Provide coaching in effective job search techniques.
• Support students in developing social and life skills.
• Advise on workplace accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Maintain progress of students and evaluate their performance.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to explore job training/coaching opportunities.
• Lead and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Attend staff committees and professional meetings/conferences.
• Ensure professional growth and development through ongoing education and training.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies regarding fixed asset items.
• Undergo periodic evaluations and comply with state and board policies.
• Perform additional duties as requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director, or as established by district policy.

Qualifications

• Education Level: High school diploma with an Associates degree from an accredited college or university, or forty-eight (48) college hours from an accredited college or university, or a passing score on the WorkKeys Test in Reading, Business Writing, and Math.
• Certification: A CDL is required.
• Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
• Work Environment: Not a standard office setting; encompasses the entire active school campus both inside and outside the facilities. Noise levels are usually low to moderate and occasionally high.
