Special Education Coordinator

About the Role

The Special Education Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role located in Berlin, MA, responsible for overseeing special education programs, coordinating services, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Daily tasks include collaborating with educators and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting curriculum adaptation, and monitoring student progress.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with educators and families to develop and implement IEPs.
• Support curriculum adaptation and differentiated instruction.
• Monitor student progress and provide guidance to teaching staff on best practices in special education.
• Lead meetings, professional development sessions, and initiatives to promote inclusive education.
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to policy development.
• Serve as a resource for students, caregivers, and staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Special Education and Education, including knowledge of IEP processes, accommodations, and inclusive practices.
• Strong background in Teaching and Curriculum Development, with the ability to support differentiated instruction and modify curriculum for diverse learners.
• Proven Educational Leadership skills, including collaboration with administrators, mentoring educators, and leading team meetings and initiatives.
• Relevant state certification or licensure in Special Education; advanced degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations, and experience with compliance and documentation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Experience working in Pre-K–12 settings and with a range of disabilities; prior coordination or supervisory experience is an advantage.
