Job Description / Essential Elements
- Identify, through assessment, children eligible to receive special education services
- Participate as a member of a team to identify the needs and specific goals and objectives of each child's individual education plan
- Supervise, direct and engage students in activities in a classroom environment
- Develop programs for students to allow for success in an educational environment and serve as a liaison to facilitate successful mainstreaming of students when appropriate
- Conduct informal evaluations and modify each student's curriculum
- Consult and articulate with staff and parents via meetings and phone, regarding the needs of students
- Utilize resources both within and outside the school district to facilitate student progress in both educational and social development
- Provide parents with appropriate instructional strategies
- Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to special education and continue independent professional growth
- Maintain records, files and reports as required by federal, state, and district regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of all written and oral information
- Communicate with physicians, private schools, and community organizations regarding special education services
- Insure health and safety of children
- Assist parents to coordinate utilization of appropriate community services
Requirements / Qualifications
- A valid California Special Ed Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) Credential is required
- An Added Authorization in Autism is required
- At least one of the following authorizations to teach English Learners is required: CTEL, CLAD, BCLAD, AB2913 training (formerly SB395 OR SB1969) or SB2042 EL Authorization
Pay
Signed Stipend: SAI teachers and SLP's shall receive a signing bonus of $5,000, phased in over three years: $1,000, in the first year; $2,000 in the second year; $2,000 in the third year. The period for this position will end on 12/31/2026.
