Special Assignment Courier / Non-DOT-1

About the role

Special assignment with up to 12-week commitment, driving/operating company vehicles to provide delivery and pick-up of packages at customer locations. This is a Tuesday through Saturday position with Mondays off and is an early morning AM shuttle function from 2 AM to 10 AM.

Responsibilities

• Provides courteous and efficient delivery and pick-up of packages.
• Checks shipments for conformance to FedEx features of service and provides related customer service functions.
• Drives vehicles not regulated by section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
• Good human relations and communication skills.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.
• Must be licensed for type of vehicle assigned.

• Neat appearance required since customer contact is required.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Special Notes

• Courier work assignment is up to 12 weeks and may be extended.
• Upon assignment completion, the employee will be transitioned back to the previously held position.
• Employees with active performance reminders or warning letters may apply for this position; however, if active discipline is related to the posted position, the active discipline may affect the selection process.

Pay

Pay range: $24.31 – $34.39 per hour.

Actual pay is determined by several job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, including, but not limited to, experience relative to the job, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment. In California, the compensation listed reflects the range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position upon hire. In New Jersey, any compensable Security and Walk time will be paid to non-exempt/hourly employees at the state minimum wage.
