Responsibilities
- Captures and coordinates with planning and construction all scheduled telecommunications and low voltage projects.
- Troubleshoots complex technical problems impacting district telephone services and provides problem resolution.
- Serves as lead for all telecommunications special projects.
- Serves as telecommunications liaison for both internal and external business partners.
- Serves as primary point-of-contact for maintenance and new construction of telephone support services for 9500+ telephone circuits.
- Aids in the development of department specifications for ongoing compliance by attending preconstruction and “work in progress” meetings.
- Researches, prepares, and presents telecommunications projects and system plans for management and senior staff.
- Aids in the procurement process by assisting the Procurement Department with the preparation of FRP, FRQ, ITQ, and ITB proposals.
- Understands and interprets schematic and architectural drawings, and assures compliance with established specifications.
- Tests and diagnoses complex systems and assists technicians in diagnosing problems, correcting recurring failures, etc.
- Provides quality assurance on daily work performed by district personnel and contracted services, while developing a comprehensive district training program.
- Provides technical direction and training to department personnel.
- Maintains safe, proper, and efficient operation of systems within responsibility area of assigned department.
- Exercises proactive leadership in promoting the vision and mission of the district.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in telecommunications and low voltage repair.
- Successful completion of one (1) year of an accredited college or university course work (30 semester hours) may substitute for one (1) year of the experience requirement.
- Possesses a current Florida Class “E” driver’s license.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
