About the role
The VIP Host is responsible for delivering a high-touch, hospitality-driven experience for guests visiting Sparrow Rooftop’s VIP and table service areas. This role focuses on cultivating a vibrant, upscale nightlife atmosphere by managing VIP reservations, coordinating bottle service seating, recognizing VIP guests, and ensuring an elevated and seamless experience from arrival through departure.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and personally escort VIP guests to reserved tables while maintaining strong guest recognition and relationship building.
- Cook up and coordinate closely with servers, bartenders, and management to ensure seamless bottle service execution and timely delivery of orders.
- Maintain VIP sections to ensure service standards, table presentation, and guest satisfaction remain at the highest level.
- Support the overall nightlife atmosphere by maintaining high energy, guest engagement, and strong floor presence during peak service periods.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding VIP arrivals, high-profile guests, special requests, or service recovery opportunities.
- Remain proactively attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and other team members.
- Consistently uphold the venue’s elevated standards of service, presentation, and professionalism.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of guest areas to ensure the atmosphere, cleanliness, and service environment reflect the luxury experience offered at Sparrow Rooftop.
- Showcase menu offerings, featured cocktails, and premium experiences while identifying opportunities to enhance guest experience through thoughtful recommendations and upselling.
- Foster meaningful relationships with VIP guests through attentive communication, personalized touches, and memorable service moments.
- Serve as a brand ambassador for the rooftop experience, ensuring every interaction reflects the venue’s signature hospitality and sophistication.
- Manage the guest wait list during peak periods, maintaining a polished and welcoming presence, keeping guests informed throughout their experience.
- Ensure an organized host stand, ensuring menus, reservation platforms, and seating charts are orderly and presentation-ready to support seamless and efficient guest flow.
- Develop and maintain a database of VIP guests, including their preferences and special occasions.
- Proactively anticipate the needs of VIP guests and take appropriate actions to fulfill their requests promptly.
- Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
- Be attentive of guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
- Aid servers and bartenders in collecting money or credit cards from guests as needed.
- Know how to prepare cashier reports at the end of the shift.
- Perform opening and closing duties according to established side work checklist.
- Maintain and confirm advance reservations via telephone.
- Maintain voicemail reservation traffic.
- Monitor and maintain OpenTable reservation table assignments to ensure seamless turnover.
- Have a complete knowledge of standards of service for receiving to-go food orders.
- Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in all applicable departments.
- Assist servers and cashiers in the servicing of guests as needed.
- Know and understand the state liquor laws.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- One or more years of related experience.
- Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.
- Experience in upscale restaurants, cocktail lounges, nightlife venues, or luxury bars required.
- Prior experience working with VIP reservations, table service, or bottle service environments strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with nightlife guest flow and high-volume hospitality environments is a plus.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with all levels of employees and guests.
- Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Effectiveness in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
- Ability to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
