About the role

The Sp Unit Staff RN - Hospital (PICU Transport) is responsible for leading the health care team, providing professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This position requires a strong background in PICU or NICU transport experience and a commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Delegates tasks appropriately and demonstrates accountability.
  • Understands and supports the team’s scope of practice and escalates issues as necessary.
  • Champions new ideas and leads the team through the change process.
  • Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.
  • Ensures the plan of care is multidisciplinary, consultative, and educational.
  • Maintains patient safety by ensuring optimal pain control, monitoring progress, revising plans based on patient condition, and facilitating discharge planning.
  • Documents accurately and efficiently using computer systems.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on patient outcomes.
  • Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.
  • Adheres to workplace safety principles and practices.
  • Provides courteous and compassionate care to patients and families.
  • Supports fiscal responsibility by organizing work to minimize overtime and identifying systems for improvement.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years recent (within the last 6 years) PICU or NICU transport experience.
  • Four (4) years recent (within the last 6 years) full-time equivalent experience in PICU.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
  • Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire.
  • May be expected to cross-train to at least one other Perinatal area.
  • Shift: 8:30 pm - 9:00 am with an 8-hour back-up shift 9:30 pm - 6:00 am.
  • Required to float based on floating policy.
  • Required to do primary care if needed.
  • Required to do break relief if needed.
