About the Role

This position requires a minimum of one year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in a Critical Care, DOU, or SDU setting, or successful completion of a KP Critical Care, DOU, or SDU course within the past 12 months. The role involves critical care nursing responsibilities, including patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability.
• Understands and adheres to the scope of practice and regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Develops and implements individualized patient care plans, ensuring multidisciplinary collaboration and patient education.
• Maintains patient safety by monitoring progress, addressing pain and anxiety, and ensuring proper medication administration and infection control.
• Communicates effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and shares responsibility for the team's success.
• Ensures compliance with workplace safety protocols and maintains a clean, functional work environment.
• Provides excellent customer service, actively listens to patient and family needs, and ensures their satisfaction.
• Adapts to changes in the system and supports the team through the change process.
• Collaborates with colleagues to assess learning needs and develop an annual education plan.
• Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.
• Manages work schedules to minimize overtime and utilizes resources efficiently.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse License (California)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Completion of a KP Critical Care, DOU, or SDU course within the last 12 months (or approved equivalent)
• One year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in a Critical Care, DOU, or SDU setting
• Basic Arrhythmia course required
