About the Role

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care using the nursing process in line with established standards, policies, and procedures. This role demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan, remaining flexible to changing systems while treating all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Leadership:

• Nursing Process:
  • Develops and contributes to individualized care plans reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Ensures care plans are multidisciplinary, age-appropriate, culturally specific, and reflective of patient acuity.
  • Discusses and reviews the plan with patients, families, and team members in a timely manner.
  • Monitors patient progress and revises plans based on condition and evaluation.
  • Ensures effective discharge planning, including education and addressing barriers.
  • Ensures patient safety (e.g., medication administration, fall prevention, infection control).
  • Addresses patient anxieties, fears, or concerns and ensures comfort and pain control.
  • Educates patients on medication purpose, side effects, and administration.
• Documentation:
  • Charts accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner, reflecting the nursing process.
  • Utilizes computer systems effectively for optimal patient care.
• Clinical Outcomes:
  • Discusses patient findings and progress with the health care team.
  • Demonstrates competencies and participates in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

• 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D), or successful completion of a Kaiser Permanente L&D course (including basic fetal monitoring and NRP) or approved equivalent within the prior 12 months.
• Ability to cross-train to at least one other Perinatal area.
• Ability to scrub and circulate as required.

Qualifications

• Certifications/Licenses:
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate (required at hire or within 12 months).
  • Kaiser Permanente PPSP for Nurses - Fetal Assessment Monitoring Certification (required at hire).
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Schedule

• Shift: Night (8:00 PM – 8:30 AM, with a backup 8-hour shift from 12:00 AM – 8:30 AM if 12-hour option is chosen).
• Workdays: Sunday through Saturday.
• Job Schedule: Per Diem.

Pay

$69.95 - $95.98 per hour. Pay is based on labor market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications (e.g., experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location).
