Sow Farm Manager - Keosauqua, IA

About the role

The Sow Farm Manager role is integral to the Iowa Select Farms production business, leading a team to ensure high standards of animal care, breeding, and herd productivity.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage on-farm production staff.
• Ensure adequate animal care, including feed/water access and barn environment.
• Plan and execute daily farm staff schedules.
• Promote and enforce sound animal husbandry, handling, and health practices.
• Execute timely euthanasia according to ISF standards.
• Train, guide, and direct functional teams in farrowing and breeding departments.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and order, and order necessary supplies and medications.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation.
• Routinely monitor herd performance and manage team towards herd productivity targets.
• Communicate herd condition and productivity to supervisor and address urgent issues.
• Manage team conflicts and provide formal discipline when necessary.
• Maintain a positive team culture and collaborate effectively with HR and veterinary staff.
• Recruit, train, retain, motivate, and develop on-farm staff.
• Work with veterinary staff to address adverse herd health conditions.
• Maintain strict adherence to ISF Animal Wellbeing and Biosecurity Policies.
• Ensure compliance with ISF Safety Policies.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in swine production operations.
• Bilingual proficiency preferred.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to work in all facilities and adhere to company biosecurity protocols.
