About the role

The Sow Farm Manager role is responsible for leading a team of farm staff to ensure the herd's productivity and efficiency in alignment with Iowa Select Farms' production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage on-farm production staff.
  • Ensure daily animal care, including feed/water access and barn environment.
  • Plan and execute daily farm schedules.
  • Promote and practice sound animal husbandry, handling, and health practices.
  • Execute timely euthanasia as per ISF standards.
  • Train, guide, and direct functional teams in farrowing and breeding.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and order, and order necessary supplies and medications.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Routinely monitor herd performance and manage team towards meeting expectations.
  • Communicate herd condition and productivity to supervisor and address urgent issues.
  • Manage team conflicts and provide discipline as needed.
  • Maintain a positive team culture and collaborate with HR and veterinary staff.
  • Adhere to ISF Animal Wellbeing and Biosecurity Policies.
  • Work with HR to recruit, train, retain, motivate, and develop staff.
  • Collaborate with veterinary staff to address adverse herd health conditions.
  • Comply with Iowa Select Farms safety policies.
  • Follow biosecurity protocols and adhere to animal wellbeing policy.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with fluency in both written and verbal communication.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in swine production operations.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements.
  • Willingness to work in various facility environments and follow biosecurity processes.
