Sow Farm Manager

Duties

• Manage day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising employees on the farm.
• Train employees on day-to-day processes and procedures and develop a competent workforce by utilizing hands-on training methods.
• Create and manage employee work schedules and maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations and providing constructive and timely feedback to employees.
• Perform audits of the farm to ensure all standard operating procedures are being followed and facilities are in good working condition.
• Ensure that all daily and weekly production targets are met, as well as completing and submitting production analysis reports in a timely manner.
• Ensure the care and conditions of sows on the farm.
• Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs.

Requirements

• Two years of swine production experience.
• Experience must include at least one year of management duties on a swine farm, and experience following detailed standard operating procedures.
• Must have experience managing four or more animal caretakers for sow farms.
• Must have experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing and have experience training in vaccination and artificial insemination in swine.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and sometimes push/and or move up to 300 pounds.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills in English.
