About the role
The Resources Business Group Manager position at HDR is designed to lead the Southern California practice, focusing on expanding the business through strategic client and project pursuits, managing projects, and supervising a team of professionals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the business and diversify the client base.
- Lead strategic client and project pursuits.
- Manage projects, provide technical services, and supervise staff.
- Liaise with marketing support services, conduct contract reviews, oversee quality of deliverables, and mentor staff.
- Prepare annual revenue forecasts and budgets, monitor performance, and sell and win projects.
- Work cooperatively with the Regional Resources Business Group Director, National Directors, and other business lines.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience, including strong leadership in providing consulting services for complex projects.
- Specific knowledge of the Southern California market is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead client teams and execute projects effectively.
- Experience in organizational development and building team structures for growth and resilience.
- Proven track record of leading diverse teams and maintaining a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Committed to quality, process improvements, and adhering to HDR values.
- Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR's technical expertise and brand.
- Ability to work collaboratively with regional and local office managers, other business group managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience leading diverse teams.
- Commitment to quality, process improvements, and adherence to HDR values.
- Engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR's technical expertise and brand.
- Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other business group directors, technical directors, and marketing managers.
Skills
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, project management, and team-building skills are essential. Proficiency in project management software and a deep understanding of the Southern California market are preferred.

$187,000 to $267,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
