South Central Region Resources (Power/ Industrial/ Waste) Business Group Director

The South-Central Region Resources Business Group Director will lead initiatives for the Resources Business Group (RBG) in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, driving business development, operational performance, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance resilient, sustainable infrastructure in power, industrial, and waste sectors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead Resources Business Group (RBG) initiatives for the South-Central Region.
- Implement and maintain an effective regional business group program, including business development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, production methods, and standards aligned with company and business group goals.
- Direct and deliver regional business group operations, focusing on net fees booked and earned, operating profit, utilization, workshare, loss prevention/management, and overall business performance.
- Collaborate with area operations, RBG project teams, Global RBG Market Sector leadership, and Regional RBG leadership to enhance client development strategies, build new client partnerships, support programs, and pursue cross-business group opportunities.
- Drive the execution of RBG initiatives across the region, ensuring alignment with regional priorities through coordination with the Regional Director of Operations and Area Leadership.
- Develop and maintain a strong regional leadership structure and manage the regional RBG budget, including profitability, investment strategies, claims management, and overall regional RBG performance.
- Work cooperatively with other Regional Business Group Directors, Regional Operations Directors, Area Managers, and Market Sector Directors to advance Business Group strategies and initiatives.
- Mentor Area Business Group Managers and key personnel.
- Assist in the identification, prioritization, and recruiting of strategic hires.
- Serve as the Business Group’s primary interface with Operations, leveraging strong business acumen.
- Uphold HDR’s commitment to quality, improvement, and core values.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a professional field, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in a related field.
- Professional or Engineering registration with relevant technical experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams.
- Proven ability to collaborate with regional business group directors, regional and local office managers, technical and marketing directors.
- Strong business skills and operational interface experience.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR’s values.
- Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Residency within the South-Central region (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi) or willingness to relocate to an area within the region.
- Senior leadership experience in the Resources Business Group, related operations, or sectors including Power, Industrial, and Waste.
