Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith. Employees and volunteers must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord, subscribe to the Young Life Statement of Faith, and abide by all policies and practices of Young Life, including those related to religious belief or ministry activities.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Development
    • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and commitment to understanding God’s Word.
    • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
    • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
    • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development alongside the Area Director.
    • Ensure all Young Life ministry under your leadership is prayer-dependent and reflects a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Leadership Development
    • Partner with the local Area Director and committee to cast vision for reaching “every kid” within the defined area.
    • Develop a subcommittee to represent the needs of teens with disabilities and their families, and raise funding for this ministry.
    • Organize consistent gatherings with the subcommittee and Capernaum leaders to build unity and provide vision.
    • Create a spiritual leadership plan for Capernaum volunteer leaders and subcommittee members.
    • Recruit and train new leaders to build teams that reflect the community.
    • Train leaders and drivers in the physical care of kids with disabilities.
    • Provide quality summer staff, work crew, and adult guests for summer camps.
    • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping for other leaders.
    • Train leaders, team leaders, and committee members on effective teamwork and develop a yearly ministry strategy with the Area Director.
  • Resource Development
    • Lead the subcommittee in finding partners to support the Capernaum area vision and budget.
    • Develop a fundraising strategy for Capernaum alongside the Area Director and ensure excellence in donor communication.
    • Build the Young Life brand through public relations as a tool for working with youth.
    • Work with the Area Director to conduct quality events that reflect Young Life’s impact and warrant resource investment.
    • Communicate the needs and successes of the local Capernaum ministry to the area committee as directed.
  • Direct Ministry
    • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
    • Lead or co-lead a model Young Life club and an effective Campaigner ministry.
    • Develop and implement plans to maximize Gospel proclamation through camping opportunities.
    • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property or camp as requested.
    • Develop relationships with school administration, parents, and aides to gain access to kids with disabilities.
  • Ministry Support
    • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
    • Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
    • Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry.
    • Perform other duties as assigned, congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
    • Accept short and long-term project assignments.
  • Training
    • Meet weekly with supervisor.
    • Participate in additional training or experiences as deemed necessary (e.g., urban exposure, Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) training).
    • Attend regional training as directed by the regional director.
    • Participate in programs for personal spiritual maturity or enrichment.
    • Pursue seminars to enhance professional skills.
    • Receive mission-wide training equivalent to traditional staff.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, adapt, and be flexible.
  • Completion of Core Training—Phase One.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids with disabilities and adults.
  • A call to reach kids with the Gospel.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

College degree preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Includes extremes of camp assignments, such as heat/cold, dirt, long hours, and physical demands (e.g., hiking, horseback riding, boating).

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $13,000–$14,500, depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
