Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Sourcing, Procurement experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Strong experience in contract interpretation, drafting, and negotiation.
  • Financial analysis of pricing proposals.
  • Ability to gather business requirements and recommend a sourcing strategy.
  • Skill in reviewing proposed contract language, identifying risks, and recommending language or strategies to remediate those risks.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).
  • Nice to have experience with contracts for software licenses (on-premise and vendor-hosted).
  • Experience with contracts for AI (Artificial Intelligence).
  • Experience negotiating pricing for software license renewals.
  • Experience negotiating agreements on behalf of a highly regulated entity (financial services, healthcare).
  • JD and/or sourcing certification.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead contract negotiations and manage supplier relationships of high risk or complexity with significant impact to the business strategy.
  • Manage suppliers and relationships from a life-cycle perspective with a focus on reducing cost or spend, increasing customer satisfaction, and maximizing business impact.
  • Establish e-business, procure-to-pay, environmental, and Strategic Sourcing cost reduction strategies to continually improve category effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Customize legal contract language to proactively anticipate technology, market and business issues.
  • Control all aspects of negotiation and set negotiation strategy.
  • Support acquisitions including negotiation reassignment on high-risk contracts.
  • Participate in the review of closing agreements.
  • Lead projects required to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, as well as educate and act as a resource for Contract Analysts with regard to such issues.
  • Education and handling vendor disputes.
  • Provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Partner with business units to issue and evaluate Request For Proposals and to ensure successful implementation of agreements.
  • Partner with business units to ensure standard contracts include corporate requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a good rapport with executive management, vendors, and third-party lessors or manufacturers to optimize negotiation, savings and service improvements and problem resolution.
  • Act as a focal point for coordinating sourcing efforts across business entities.
