Sonographer, Registry - Crown Point
About the role
Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana as a Ultrasound Technologist in the Radiology Department. Here, you will perform Ultrasound and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. The technologist will provide appropriate patient care and recognize patient’s conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures. The services are provided in accordance with industry standards, department protocols and hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Complete competencies in all general abdominal and pediatric exams without duplex within 30 minutes
- Participate in biopsy procedures with assistance
- Perform portable and ED studies for all general ultrasound exams, adult and pediatric
- Perform studies with minimal oversite from department
- Lead, Imaging Technical Coordinator or Manager; can perform duties independently
- Utilize EPIC independently to begin exams, end exams, add supply charges, verify orders, change orders as necessary and review patient chart for pertinent history
- Properly utilize PACS for image presentation
- Review completed studies with radiologist for approval
- Performs other duties assigned by Lead Technologist and Department Manager
- Participate in imaging evaluation and improvement with Imaging Technical Coordinator
Requirements
Satisfactory completion of formal Ultrasound training program through an accredited school
Ultrasound experience in abdominal, small parts and basic vascular experience necessary
Current registry by ARDMS in Abdominal Imaging or completion within one year of hire
CPR and BLS training required
Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required
Handle high pressure, fast paced work environment
Able to work independently on call
