About the role
The radiology team at UAB St. Vincent’s Blount provides advanced imaging services for various departments including inpatient, outpatient, surgical, oncology, and emergency care. Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic procedures using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, producing quality images for interpretation.
- Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
- Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
- Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
- Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Locks and tags out equipment if necessary.
- Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, and patient data/history).
- Maintains a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other areas in the department.
- Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Licensure / Certification / Registration: Within 12 months of hire or transfer, Registered as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered as a Registered Technologist (R.T.) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Advanced certification in Sonography (R.T.(S)
- If at an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF), must have one of the following upon hire: Registered as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered as a Registered Technologist (R.T.) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Advanced certification in Sonography (R.T(S)
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
