Job Description

As a Senior Project Development Engineer, you will focus on operational and energy efficiency improvements for clients, particularly in HVAC/BMS upgrades. Your responsibilities include providing pre-sale technical and engineering support, conducting detailed site assessments, analyzing energy bills, performing load calculations, and identifying savings opportunities. You will also develop HVAC systems and solutions, lead project scope and concept development, estimate lifecycle costs, calculate return on investment, and expand retrofit project scopes. Additionally, you will support Account Managers in establishing project installation budgets, collaborate with Project Managers, contractors, and clients to deliver design-build projects on time and within budget, and conduct site visits, energy assessments, calculations, and utility rebate discussions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years’ experience in HVAC contracting and/or HVAC design engineering
• Ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory
• Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical systems (HVAC, controls)
• Proficiency in energy modeling software and data analysis
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Experience with cost and savings studies, energy rebate programs, utility tariffs, and bill analysis
• Knowledge of construction methods and practices; ability to direct subcontractors
• Team-oriented, dynamic, and self-motivated; able to manage multiple projects
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders
• Sales skills, goal-oriented, with strong time management and organizational abilities
• Understanding customer decision-making processes
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or Visio and computerized energy simulation tools (a plus)
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours, including travel and occasional overnight stays
• Knowledge of building automation, sequence of operations, and energy conservation strategies
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with contractors and vendors

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position ranges from $96,000.00 to $192,000.00 annually. Factors such as skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate may affect the pay within this range.
