Solutions Engineer
About the role
WPP is the trusted growth partner for the world’s leading brands, uniting cutting-edge media intelligence, data solutions, world-class creativity, next-generation production, transformative enterprise solutions, and expert strategic counsel in a single company. This Solutions Engineer role is a core member of InfoSum’s North American Client Services team, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Solutions Engineering. InfoSum, WPP’s newly acquired data collaboration platform (acquired April 2025 for ~$150M), serves as the foundational data layer for WPP Open Intelligence. You will work with some of the world’s most recognizable brands, publishers, and data partners—including Disney, NBCU, Netflix, Roku, Walmart, and major WPP client brands.
Responsibilities
- Own an assigned portfolio of WPP clients and partners, serving as their primary technical contact and implementation lead.
- Scope, design, and execute data collaboration solutions from initial discovery through go-live and ongoing optimization.
- Act as a "customer-facing DevOps resource" during the post-sale cycle—troubleshooting, building, and maintaining client implementations across multiple cloud environments.
- Write SQL queries, Python scripts, and build data workflows to deliver insights and activate campaigns for clients.
- Support pre-sale technical conversations, solution design, and proof-of-concept work alongside the sales team.
- Build and maintain technical documentation, implementation playbooks, and process standards as the team scales.
- Implement InfoSum’s native app technology across all five major cloud environments (GCP, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Databricks) over the next 6-12 months.
- Support growing WPP-internal initiatives including Data Meter (usage tracking), Data Catalog (asset discovery), and Dataset Audit (data validation).
Requirements
- Technical Fluency:
- SQL proficiency (ESSENTIAL): InfoSum’s platform is built on a SQL-like query language. You must be comfortable writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL queries.
- Python for data operations: Hands-on experience using Python to format data, create deliverables, and automate workflows. Must have actually coded in Python—not just AI-assisted familiarity.
- Cloud environment experience: Experience working in at least one of: GCP, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or Databricks. Comfortable navigating cloud storage, understanding data pipelines, and troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
- API integration experience: Has worked with or supported API-based integrations between platforms.
- Client-Facing & Problem-Solving:
- Service mentality: Approaches technical work with a customer-first mindset. Treats clients as partners, not just recipients of your technical expertise.
- Excellent communicator: Can translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: Thrives in fast-moving, evolving environments where processes are still being built and problems don’t always have a playbook.
- Industry & Domain Knowledge:
- AdTech/MarTech experience (ESSENTIAL): Must understand the paid media ecosystem—how advertisers, agencies, DSPs, SSPs, publishers, and data platforms work together.
- Data collaboration or clean room familiarity: Familiarity with privacy-safe data collaboration concepts is a strong plus (hands-on clean room experience NOT required).
- Mindset & Attitude:
- Hungry to learn and grow: This role will expose you to five different cloud environments, cutting-edge privacy technology, and some of the most sophisticated data teams in media. You need to be excited by that, not overwhelmed.
- Process-oriented: Naturally thinks about documentation, standardization, and replication—not just solving one-off problems.
- Proactive and ownership-driven: Doesn’t wait to be told what to do. Sees problems, raises them, and proposes solutions.
Culture
- You're open: We are inclusive and collaborative; we encourage the free exchange of ideas; we respect and celebrate diverse views.
- You're open-minded: To new ideas, new partnerships, new ways of working.
- You're optimistic: We believe in the power of creativity, technology, and talent to create brighter futures for our people, our clients, and our communities. We approach all that we do with conviction: to try the new and to seek the unexpected.
- You're extraordinary: We are stronger together: through collaboration we achieve the amazing. We are creative leaders and pioneers of our industry; we provide extraordinary every day.
