About the Role

The Solutions Architect – Workday serves as a senior-level technical and functional expert responsible for designing, configuring, and delivering enterprise Workday solutions that support Trinity Health’s Human Resources technology ecosystem. This role serves as a key partner to the PLAN team and business stakeholders by evaluating incoming business requests, assessing technical feasibility, defining scalable solution options, identifying system dependencies, and providing accurate effort estimates required to successfully deliver enterprise Workday initiatives.

The Solutions Architect is responsible for translating complex business requirements into sustainable, secure, and scalable Workday solutions while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, system governance, and long-term platform strategy. This position requires deep expertise across multiple Workday functional areas and serves as both a solution architect and senior hands-on configuration expert for complex enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the PLAN team to evaluate incoming business requests and determine technical feasibility, solution design approach, implementation complexity, and level of effort required for delivery.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business objectives, identify system constraints, and recommend scalable Workday solutions that align with enterprise standards.
  • Lead solution design across multiple Workday functional areas including Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, Core HCM, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Security, Reporting, and Integrations.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs including business process configuration, security framework design, reporting solutions, integrations, automation opportunities, and system enhancements.
  • Provide technical assessments for project intake including implementation timelines, resource requirements, system dependencies, configuration complexity, integration impacts, and production support considerations.
  • Design, configure, and support complex Workday solutions while providing hands-on configuration support when advanced expertise is required for critical projects or production issues.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for complex Workday configuration challenges, production issues, and enterprise solution design decisions.
  • Lead impact analysis, testing strategy, and deployment readiness activities related to Workday biannual releases and new feature adoption opportunities.
  • Partner with technical teams to design and support integrations including Workday Studio, EIBs, APIs, Core Connectors, and enterprise system interfaces.
  • Establish and maintain configuration standards, design documentation, governance processes, and best practices that ensure scalable and maintainable enterprise solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to analysts, administrators, developers, and project teams supporting Workday initiatives.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve system design, automate business processes, optimize configuration standards, and improve overall platform performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or information technology and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience with comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering in at least two (2) IT disciplines (e.g., strategic planning, solution architecture, technology architecture, network management, security management, change management, application development, middleware design, information analysis, database management, project management, and operations management).
  • Advanced technical knowledge and understanding of multiple architectures, applications, systems design, entity-relationships, and integration.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of modern enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of healthcare processes and data linkages across clinical, financial, and patient administrative areas in acute care and outpatient settings.
  • Ability to understand how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking).
  • Knowledge of multiple components of enterprise architecture.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis and models.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in design and development of processing, reporting, analytic, and application solutions to support end-user decision-making, including:
    • Writing functional specifications and design specifications
    • Developing data enhancement processes and applications
    • Developing and integrating standard structures, processes, and delivery methods, and other comprehensive end-user solutions
    • Experience with multiple technical architectures and languages
    • Change management process development and enforcement
  • Excellent organization, analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to work collaboratively across product management methodology (Management, Engineering, and Optimization) teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare nomenclature and clinical and financial business processes preferred.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Schedule

This position operates in a typical office environment. The incumbent must be capable of traveling up to 20% in the course of completing project assignments and able to meet established deadlines.
