Solution Development Manager - Lurgi Technologies

About the role
The Solution Development Manager - Lurgi Technologies will understand customer needs and develop competitive, optimized gas solutions using the Lurgi portfolio (SMR, ATR, POX, etc.). This role involves supporting and potentially leading proposal preparation, providing technical deliverables, and ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. You will act as the regional focal point for Air Liquide Over-The-Fence project developments and support technical exchanges with customers.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed company safety standards and comply with E&C Global and Local engineering standards.
- Support the E&C Third Party Sales team and Air Liquide businesses in technical exchanges with customers (presentations, conferences, etc.).
- Manage solution development, including site visits, stakeholder brainstorming, and scenario development meetings.
- Lead the Solution Development effort by creating key technical deliverables (solution tables, scope of work, technical specifications) and associated estimations to compare options and select the best solution.
- Work with Product Line(s), Technical, and Proposal teams to develop/finalize the design basis and technical proposal, including technical specifications.
- Drive the Basis of Design with the Client and define optimized process integration with different blocks.
- Collaborate with Air Liquide’s Intellectual Property team to ensure freedom to propose technical solutions.
- Support review meetings and documentation (A meeting, B meeting, Risk Boards, ERC, etc.).
- Participate in estimate reviews, including benchmarking activities for commercial competitiveness.
- Ensure the competitiveness of the solution and reflect customer input in proposals.
- Interact with key suppliers and Procurement to develop project scope and price information.
- Participate in or lead technical clarification meetings with customers.
- Proactively seek market information and participate in win/loss data analysis for continuous improvement.
- Participate in contract negotiations with customers when needed.
- Evaluate the level of FOIK (First of Its Kind) for each solution with the Solution Development Director and prepare FOIK notes if required.
- Manage one direct report, if applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent engineering field.
- Experience in process design (HyCO plants or similar).
- General knowledge of project development and execution.
- General knowledge of industrial gas plants and market.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with other entities, disciplines, and departments.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for internal/external meetings (up to 10% of the time).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Aspen Plus simulation software.
- Strong organizational and people management skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Notions of German or French language is an asset.
- Ability to work with multicultural teams.
