Our Sun Valley, CA office has an excellent opportunity for a Soil/Geotechnical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have an interest in geotechnical and civil engineering, construction materials testing, and special inspection services. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Work with drill rigs and excavators to sample and classify soils
• Review aerial photography
• Assist in analysis of soil to determine engineering characteristics
• Preparation of geotechnical reports
• Review engineering drawings and reports
• Collect and oversee soil sampling using borings and test pits
• Perform and oversee laboratory tests
• Assist in making recommendations regarding foundation design, soil bearing pressures, slope stability, and lateral earth pressures
• Perform sampling and testing of concrete, masonry, grout, asphalt, and soil
• Problem-solve with job site contractors

Requirements

• Civil Engineer (PE preferred but not required)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn and accept new challenges
• Must have a clean motor vehicle record and pass a pre-employment drug test

Physical Demands

• Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
• Ability to stoop, kneel, and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
• Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
• Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold if needed
