About the role
Develop and conduct tests of software systems to evaluate compliance with specifications, requirements, and cybersecurity standards in classified environments. Apply principles and methods for cost-effective planning, verification, validation, and evaluation of software technical, functional, and performance characteristics including interoperability and security.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive test plans, strategies, and automated/manual test frameworks for software applications and systems.
- Execute functional, performance, regression, security, and integration testing; document defects and verify resolutions.
- Analyze and report test results, including risk assessments, compliance evaluations, and recommendations for software improvements or acceptance.
- Ensure traceability of requirements to test cases and validate that software meets mission-critical performance and cybersecurity objectives.
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
- Must be willing and able to work full-time on-site in a classified facility with restricted access.
- Must comply with DoDM 8140.03 requirements, including obtaining and maintaining approved foundational, resident, and continuous professional development qualifications/certifications for DCWF Work Role 673 (specific certifications may include relevant ISTQB, CompTIA, or DoD-approved equivalents aligned to the role).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure software testing practices, and DoD standards (e.g., RMF, NIST).
- Proficiency with testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, or similar) and defect tracking systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field (preferred; equivalent experience may substitute in some cases).
- Minimum of 3–5+ years of progressive experience in software testing and evaluation, with at least 2 years supporting DoD/IC or classified environments.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered (e.g., relevant certifications plus demonstrated expertise).
- Desired: Advanced degree or specialized training in software quality assurance/testing; experience with automated testing frameworks in secure environments.
