Software Intern

About the role

KBR is looking for an intern who would be responsible for developing software solutions to customer problems by developing applications from beginning to end. Performs research and analysis to determine project cycle, including estimating tasks, scheduling of assigned projects, and ensuring schedules are met or revised as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide Web site development and curator efforts.
• Support SharePoint sites, SharePoint migration (ShareGate), Power App, Power Automate, and Power BI development and assistance/troubleshooting.
• Create code/apps that meets system standards.
• Use VBA to build and deploy macros and templates.
• Use current software knowledge to design and develop functional Web pages and maintain existing databases/list, develop databases/list as necessary.
• Provide front end graphical user interface design using reactive front end web frameworks.
• Provide software testing and quality assurance.
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
• Maintain and report project status to management along with monthly required reporting.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VBA macros, custom tools built with Microsoft Power Platform, and SharePoint access, collaborating with users to identify root causes and ensure robust solutions.
• Provide SharePoint curator services and support to users/customers.
• Independently gather requirements directly from the customer to fully understand the scope and nature of the task being requested.
• Independently present technical information and design options to the customer in a clear and informative manner.
• Provide technical suggestions to improve functionality or offer new solutions to the customer.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• Must have or be pursuing a bachelor’s degree with 0-2 years of SharePoint related work experience.
• Experience with SharePoint on-premises or SharePoint online and the MS Power Environment (Power App, Power Automate, and Power BI).
• Experience migrating site collections from on-premises to SharePoint Online or across domains.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Application development including use of VBA for Excel macro (Advanced level) development.
• Experience with front end web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Ability to understand and write software requirement documentation and code/process documentation.
• Experience with C# or Python (or some high-level object-oriented language).
• Excellent analytical skills, ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities, meet tight and fluid deadlines.
• Provide examples of SharePoint Online, Power Apps, Power Automate, or Power BI projects completed through work experience, internship, coursework, research, or personal projects.

• Proven ability to coordinate with team members, project members, customers, users, and other stakeholders to successfully develop, conduct, and implement software solutions.
• Flexibility to adapt to new tools and technologies; self-starter who has a proven ability to work independently.
• Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience developing solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, specifically SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platforms (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).

Schedule

This position is on premise at Johnson Space Center facility (no remote work).
